Abstract (EN)
There are significant olivine reserves in our country and in the world. Norway, which has the world's largest Olivine deposit, also ranks first in production. In the 1930s, refractory brick was produced from Olivine in Norway. Olivine, refractory, iron-steel and casting, electric heater production, as well as balance material in train tracks and buildings, bridges, etc. as an abrasive in structures, ıt is known that it is used in many areas such as environmental technologies, agriculture and jewelry. Mining, properties, reserves and usage areas of Olivine mineral were investigated within the scope of the thesis. The raw materials used in the chemical analysis of olivine and used in glaze recipes are explained. In the applications part of the thesis, experiments were carried out with the aim of being able to be used in artistic ceramic glazes, since the oxides in the chemical structure of the Olivine mineral are common with the oxides used in the production of ceramic glazes. First of all, the raw materials to be used in the experiments were determined and triple diagram setups were constructed. Percent blends of the constructed diagrams were created and glaze experiments were applied according to seger recipes. Glaze firing was done at 1150°C. In line with the data obtained from the test results, the ceramic glazes of Olivine were classified according to their physical appearance properties and tabulated.
