Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to examine the effect of positive and negative feedback on maximal voluntary contraction level of the Biceps Brachii muscle in athletes with different personality types. 49 student athletes, 21 of whom are female and 28 of whom are male, and studying at the Faculty of Sports Sciences at Sakarya University took part in the study. In the study, repetitive measurements and experimental research methods were applied. In the maximal voluntary muscular contraction (MVC) measurements, received reference values were determined before the feedback is provided, then the same measurements were conducted under the positive and negative feedback condition. Furthermore, in this study, personality and emotional intelligence inventories were used, considering the cause-effect relationships, the data concerning the superficial electromyography (sEMG) and the data from the psychometric measurements collected from the subjects were analyzed using the statistical packet program, SPSS 20. In the light of the findings of the study, different from the previous studies in the field, it was detected that the positive feedback has negative effects on males. On the other hand, negative feedback has an effect of the rise of the maximal voluntary muscular contraction in males (6,32 %) and females (11,4 %). In addition to this, the percentage changes of positive and negative feedback and the personality traits of the subjects were compared. As a result, it was determined that there was a significant difference (P<0,05) for gender in the relationship between positive and negative feedback and the conscientiousness. In the light of the findings of the study, the results were discussed and the suggestions were provided for further researches.
