Olympos excavation glass finds

The subject of the thesis is the glass findings obtained during the excavations between 1991 and 2019 in the Ancient City of Olympos, which is located within the borders of Kumluca district of Antalya and is considered one of the important cities of the Lycian Union. Due to the topographic location of the city , glass finds have been evaluated under two headings as Northern City and Southern City. The historical process of Olympos started with the Hellenistic period, and the archaeological data layer was reached until the Roman Period, Early Christianity and finally the Early Byzantine period. According to the current scale archaeological work in urban life in Olympos ended at AD.7 th century's second half. The fact no definitive evidence yet for modern settlements on the architectural remains belonging to the early Byzantine period explain no more allocation has been made on city ever since. Most of the glass finds are in the form of broken pieces. The evaluation criteria of the finds were the site, layer, color, form, size, construction-decoration technique and material quality. After examining the Olympos glasses on the basis of the finds of whole building in the city, the thesis study was completed by comparing the Lycian region and other similar examples.
