Abstract (EN)

Ömer Seyfettin is one of the leading representatives of not only Turkish Literature but also Turkish nationalism. Fitting more than two hundred articles, more than sixty stories, nearly ninety poetry, three plays, more than twenty translations and two memoirs for his thirty-six-year short life, Ömer Seyfettin has a significant impact on Turkish thought life. The fact that the period he lived was an extraordinary period of turmoil in Turkish history and that he witnessed the most important events of this period as a soldier causes his works and thoughts to be discussed. At the center of the discussions are stories rather than poetry, articles and letters. In this study, it is aimed to reveal the ideology in Ömer Seyfettin stories and the nature of the subject within this ideology. In this context, firstly, the period in which the author was born, the currents of opinion at that time, the important representatives of these currents of thought and their effects on Ömer Seyfettin were reviewed, and then the stories were examined in detail in a row based on the publication dates. As a result of the analyzes made, it was determined that the nationalist ideology operating in the stories of Ömer Seyfettin was built on four basic concepts, namely nation, language, religion and ideal. Ömer Seyfettin, in a period when extraordinary circumstances, redrew the horizion of fancy that is the conquest of world domination by combining with the Turks and other Muslims living outside Turkey. While drawing this horizon, the most important constituent elements had been nation, language, religion and ideal. In addition to this, it has found that he called all the Turks who were Ottoman citizens and non-Ottaman citizens to certain subject position, but it is a subject that is both Turkish and Muslim at the same time, so it does not include Turkish-speaking communities such as Uighurs, Gagauzes who speak Turkish but are not Muslim, and those who adopt the Shiite sect, though not explicitly stated. It is considered that his life in great difficulties and the traumas caused by the land losses of the Ottoman state led to a resentment emotional state, and this emotional state reflects to the language of their stories, especially the stories of Primo Turkish Boy and White Tulip, which were published during the Balkan War and afterwards and which are still the focus of criticism towards him, were written under this influence. It has been determined that the writer got rid of this emotional state within three years and that the discourse that made his opponent in his stories hostile after 1917 disappeared to a great extent.
