In the vocabulary of a language, composed of its own elements which foreign elements can mix with, the basic vocabulary, terms, phrasal verbs, idioms, proverbs, reduplications and etc. Items are located. Our language, in spite of being rich in terms of such elements contained in vocabulary, studies are limited consequently, the importance of studies to determine the vocabulary has been increasing day by day.As we know, every poet and author has their own word power. Poets and writers form the vocabulary in their word power, emendate, chip, revitalize and give them constant life in their own style. In my study named ?The vocabulary (set of words) in the stories of Ömer Seyfettin?? I aimed at revealing rich vocabulary and contribute to the studies done before.According to this aim, first, "vocabulary and the scope" were handled. The elements included in vocabulary were handled in detail. Later, I tried to handle the life, ideas, and storytelling of Ömer Seyfettin who has significant contributions to settling and the development of the type of story in Turkish literature. In the review section, the elements of vocabulary (proverbs, idioms, reduplications, terms, phrasal verbs, epithets, slang expressions) in the stories were determined.In addition, by this study revealing the vocabulary of Ömer Seyfettin stories, I intended to obtain catch clues the period clues about the materialistic and spiritual culture of the period and to contribute to the presence of Turkish vocabulary.Finally, stories of Ömer Seyfettin which form a significant step in Turkish short story writing, demonstrate that they have rich vocabulary in terms of language material.Keywords: Ömer Seyfettin, Vocabulary, Proverbs, Terms, Idioms.
