Abstract (EN)
Spinal fractures and deformity disorders are common in orthopedic surgery. Conservative treatments can be applied to the disorders in the spine system. Surgical interventions may be necessary in the absence of benefit from these treatments or in the failure of these treatments. The screwing method, called instrumentation, is widely used in spinal surgery. Screw fixation is used for fixation in fractures of the vertebrae and in deformities, is used for correction. It has the aim of giving a stabile position to the backbone which has lost its support and balance by screwing operation. Each screw sent to the vertebrae that has angles defined in vertical and horizontal plans. If the surgery did not fit these angle plans, nerve tissue can be damaged and neurological complications may occur. The application of pedicle screws is so risky operation in terms of neurovascular complications. The slightest deviation in screw angle can cause injury to these adjacent neural and vascular structures. For this reason, the installation of the screws must be done accurately and precisely. In this study, a new guidance system has been designed for more accurate placement of pedicle screws. The designed guide system has been tried anatomically on the spine model. It has been seen that the guiding system that we designed can reduce the risks that may occur due to screwing method in spine operations, and at the same time, it was observed that both the patient safety and the ease of surgical application were provided. Key Words: Pedicle screw applications, thoracic injuries, guide design, spine guide
