Abstract (EN)
The aim of this descriptive study was to determine problems experienced by patients after shoulder arthroscopy. This study was carried out between july 16nd, 2020 and december 24th, 2020 in Orthopedics and Traumatology Clinic of Gazi University Health Research and Practice Centre in Ankara. This study included 88 patients undergoing shoulder arthroscopy for the first time. The research has been conducted in two stages by using patient identification form and Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand (DASH) questionnaire. Questionnaires were applicated to the patients before the surgery by face to face and tele-follow up visits on 1st, 6th and 12th weeks. Descriptive statistical methods (frequency, percentage, mean, standart deviation) and independent Samples t test, ANOVA, Levene, Bonferroni ve Tamhane's T2 were used in evaluating the data. According to the statistical analyses; DASH score of the patients was 54,21±19,65 in preoperative period, this score was 62,07±15,40 in the postoperative 1st week, 37,76±17,08 in the 6th week and S23,81±12,66 in the 12th week after the surgery and reduced significantly (p<0,05) in time. DASH work modul score of the patient was 50,78±29,56 in the preoperative period, this score was 57,24±29,54 in the postoperative 1st week, 39,49±28,04 in the 6th week and it was 19,32±18,92 in the 12th week after the surgery and reduced significantly (p<0,05) in time. Preoperative DASH scores were found to be significantly higher (p<0.05) in patients over 45 years old, obese, with chronic disease, and primary school graduates.According to the findings, the problems after shoulder arthroscopy surgery were more severe in the early postoperative period than before the operation, and that these problems began to decrease especially after the 6th week after the operation and that the problems continued after the 12th week. According to the results obtained from the research; we suggest tele-follow up and consultancy to the patients for resolving the problems experienced posoperatively and early after discharge.
