Abstract (EN)
Diabetes mellitus is a disease characterized by a metabolic disorder caused by the absence of insulin or hyperglycemia caused by insulin resistance. Vitamin D is a secosteroid closely related to the steroid hormone. Its deficiency is common in the world. Many studies support that vitamin D plays a role in diabetes and glycemic control. Our aim in this study is to evaluate the relationship between vitamin D and Hba1c, to determine and evaluate their relationship with biochemical parameters and glycemic control. Our study is a retrospective study and was created by evaluating the laboratory parameters of 150 diabetic patients who applied to Yozgat Boğazlıyan State Hospital Internal Medicine Outpatient Clinic between 31.12.2018 and 31.01.2020. The number of women in our study was 70 (46.7%) and the number of men was 80 (53.3%). The mean age of the patients was 55.6 ± 8.3 years. There was a statistical relationship between vitamin D values and grouped HbA1c values. There was a good positive correlation between glucose and HbA1c. A relationship between vitamin D and glycemic control has been found in patients with diabetes mellitus for 10 years or more. Keywords: Diabetes mellitus, vitamin D, HbA1c
