11 THE FORMATION OF BREATH AND TONE IN OPERA ART ORIENTED TONE TRAINING AND ANALYSIS OF ITS PHYSICAL FEATURES (Postgraduate Thesis) Kıvanç Aycan GAZI UNIVERSITY INSTITUTE OF EDUCATIONAL SCIENCES June, 2005 SUMMARY This study has been carried out to examine the formation of breath and tone in opera art oriented voice training and its physical features. In this study which has been prepared through a descriptive working, local and foreign sources have been scanned by means of source scanning method and the method of interview has been used. The interview has been fulfilled in the schools which provide professional singing training with twelve experts among soloist artists working in Hacettepe University Conservatory, Opera Art Department; The Faculty of Bilkent Performing Arts, Opera Department; Başkent University Fine Arts Department of Opera and Chorus; Conservatory of Ankara University, Department of Chorus; Konya Selçuk University Conservatory, Department of Singing; Eskişehir Anadolu University Conservatory, Opera Art Department; Ankara General Directorate of State Opera and Balet. In this study, the findings regarding the use of breath and tone in opera training and its importance in tone training have been evaluated and interpreted according to some measurements and various suggestions have been made.
