Abstract (EN)

With the increase of population, urbanization and the development of industry, the movment of human and objects have increased. Therefore, traffic and traffic management have gained the same importance. In our country, the biggest problem of urban life is traffic. In terms of efficiency, when multiplying the number of vehicles in traffic by each unnecessary second we spent in traffic causes a huge damage to the national economy. In this thesis, to avoid unnecessary waiting at traffic lights it is aimed to calculate the signal duration according to vehicle density and eliminate unnecessary waiting. when doing this, as method was used the aggregate cumulative number of vehicles curve. In the implementation part of the project, was prepared with a computer program that uses this method and real life using convenient junction control device. The thesis is based on the number of real junctions and real vehicles in Ankara, the current junction and the optimal signal duration are compared in the Vissim traffic simulation program. In this study, It has been observed that even small applications in signal times of junctions produce beneficial results. On the other hand,it has proved the necessity to search for solutions outside signaling methods at much more junction points.
