Abstract (EN)
Objective: The purpose of this study is to research the effect of snack options on the metabolic control and blood lipid profile for Type 2 diabetes that also use anti-diabetic drugs. Method: This research applied to 100 patients who has already enrolled to Akdeniz University, Faculty of Medicine Hospital, Department of Internal Diseases and Endocrinology diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. 100 Diabetes Mellitus patients are selected, age between 18-65 not receiving lipid lowering treatment or patients having under fixed-dose lipid lowering therapy. First of all 2 groups are chosen randomly. First group had fruit for snack for 3 months. After that snack option has changed to milk. Second group had milk for snack for 3 months, than end of 3rd months snack option milk changed by fruit.Diet treatment which is taken by first group applied to second group after 3 months, and diet treatment which is taken by second group applied to first group after 3 months. Therefore end of treatment 2 type of diets has applied to all patients. This resarch continue for 6 months. All biomedical research at the beginning examine to all patients for 3rd and 6thmonths. Results: Wilks' Lambda Test (GLM Repeated Measures Analysis) and Pairwise Comparisons has applied and both of the two medical nutrition tratment has found a possitive effect on glicemia, blood lipit control and weight control which taken by diabetic patients. While study period in groups BMI, blood lipid profile, fasting plasma glucose, HbA1c differences has found statistically meaningful (p≤0.05). But blood HDL cholesterol level has not got a meaning in statistically (P>0.05). Fruit-milk and milk-fruit groups have not got a diference in statistically between them on metabolic control and blood lipid profile (p>0.05). Conclusion: As a result in this research we examine the effects of between different snack choices (fruit and milk groups) on metabolic control and blood lipid profile who has oral antidiabetic drugs Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus patients. These results have shown that we need more clinical research on Type 2 diabetic patients who had taken medical nutrition treatment.
