The effects of leonardite dozes on the yield and yield components in organic maize cultivation

This study was conducted to determine the effects of different leonardite dozes on yield and yield components in organic maize cultivation. The experiment was designed as split plots with three replicates in Elta-Ada Managing of Agriculture in Gökçeada during main crop season of 2009. In the experiment, main plots were cultivars (Tisa and Turtop) and sub plots were leonardite dozes (0, 100, 200, 300, and 400 kg/da). As a result, the effects of leonardite dozes on most of the measured characters were found to be significant. However, the differences between the cultivars were not significant. The leonardite dozes, 200 and 300 kg/da increased the grain yield in both cultivars. Consequently, especially these dozes can be recommended for organic maize production. Forage and dry matter yields in Tisa cultivar increased with increasing leonardite dozes.
