EFFECT OF SOCIAL CAPITAL ON KNOWLEDGE SHARING WITHIN THEORGANIZATION: AN APPLICATION IN KÜTAHYA POCELAIN INC.Fulya MISIRDALIABSTRACTThe importance given to the knowledge has recently increased due to the effects ofdevelopments and changes in the World on the business world. However knowlegde has to besystematically managed as all other resources in order for the organization to obtain therequired benefit from the knowledge. In other words, the organization should investigate thelacking knowledge, try to obtain these knowledge, convey the obtained knowledge to thosewho need it, and thus novel and different knowledge can be uncovered.The main aim of the knowlegde management is to create new and strategic knowledgeto differentiate the organization from other organizations. Nonetheless, the creation of newknowledge by the organization depends on the sharing the knowledge between the workers.For the organization, the knowledge in the brains of the workers, which will not beinstrumental as long as it is revealed, is the tacit knowledge in the category of the strategicresources. The uncovered of the tacit knowledge depends on several faktors. Among these,social capital is a crucial faktor. According to that, the components of social capital trust,network, language and norms trigger the individuals for the elucidation of the tacitknowledge. In short, all these components of social capital ensures individuals tos harewillingly the knowledge they have by supporting the relationship between the individuals.
