Abstract (EN)

The importance of culture in managing organizations has risen dramatically due to the fact that business administration has crossed over borders via the developments in globalisation; that information technologies and mass media have become more common; that many multi-national companies have been founded; and that there occured a compulsion to do business in various different cultural environments. Culture forms a organizational character, improves commitment to the organization, and shapes behaviours of the individuals in an organization. The terms "organization culture" and "organizational commitment" posses an important and indispensible role in our rapidly changing and developing business world in order to achieve the organizational goals. Organizational culture, determines the crucial factors for the organization like a guide to the goals in ever changing environment; shapes the interaction between the individuals; reinforces the commitment of the members to the common beliefs and values by creating organizational commitment. One of the critical factors for the organizations to be consistent or to expand its existence to the long term in a competitive environment, is that; for the each individual to adopt organization as an independent phenomenon and to feel commitment to the identity, policy and the vision of the organization for which they work. At this stage, it would not be wrong to perceive the organisational commitment which is the basic determinant of the identity, the mision and the vision of the organisation. Especially with the increasing importance of the human factor and the increasing awareness of the individual who works for the success of the organization, the importance of organizational culture and organizational commitment has increased too. From this point of view, the aim of this thesis is to look into the characteristics of the organizational culture and its relation with organizational commitment and to determine the impact of organizational culture on organizational commitment. The data of this study were obtained via a questionnaire applied to the personnel at Police Vocational College in Malatya. The findings obtained from the statistical analysis and tests applied on the field study showed the effects of the levels of the organizational culture on organizational commitment. In organizations with strong organizational culture, it was determined that the organizational commitment of the employees had been positively affected. The management of the organization has the responsibility to take advantage of having such employees who have higher organizational commitment via strong organizational culture.
