The effect of organizational culture on organizational cynicism and an empirical study

The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between organizational culture and organizational cynicism via the survey model using the data obtained from a population composed of 450 worker that work in different sectors out of whom 372 could be reached. A questionnaire, composed of three sections, was used to collect the data. In the first section, participants? personal information was given. In the second section, ?Organizational Culture? instrument developed by the researcher and in the third section, ?Organizational Cynicism Scale? developed by Brandes, Dharwadkar and Dean (1999:3) were used. The Cronbach?s Alpha value of the ?Organizational culture? instrument was r =0,834 whereas that of ?Organizational Cynicism Scale? was r =0,913. Percentage, frequancy, mean, standard deviation, pearson correlation coefficient, multiple linear regression, structural equation model, t-test, one-way ANOVA for independent samples, and in case the assumptions of parametric tests were not satisfied, Mann Whitney U and Kruskal Wallis-H tests were used. In the structural equation analysis, as a result it is concluded that the relationship between organizational culture and organizational cynicism is strong.According to the findings in this research there is a negative relationship between total points of Organizational Culture and Organizational Cynism Criterion in organizations. There fore there is a decrease in negative attitudes of workers in organizations which has strong culture. The importance of organization culture confronts us as a point which diministes negative attitudes.
