Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to investigate whether the cynicism has an intermediary role on the effect of organizational justice perception on work engagement. For this purpose, a survey was conducted among 160 employees working in the banking sector. The scale developed by Niehoff and Moorman (1993) for measuring organizational justice, the scale developed by Utrecht (2003) for measuring work engagement, the scale developed by Dean, Brandes and Dharwadkar (1998) for measuring cynism are used in line with expert opinion. Reliability and validity of these scales are applicable for the case of Turkey too. According to the results of the analyses carried out in this research, organizational cynicism has an intermediary role on the effect of organizational justice perception on work engagement. It was found through this study that there is a negative relationship between organizational justice perceptions of workers and organiztional cynicism, a negative relationship between organizational cynicism and work engagement, a positive relationship between organizational justice and work engagement. This study contributes to the literature since the model formulated using the relevant variables in this study is unique and the number of similar researches conducted in the banking sector is very few.
