The relationship between organizational commitment and organizational citizenship: A research on precious metal sector institutions in Istanbul

In the 21st Century market conditions how the competition is very high; the organizations need employees who are striving for the benefit of the company. Such an environment, the terms as organizational commitment and organizational citizenship have started to come into prominence. The main purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between organizational commitment and organizational citizenship behavior in organizations operating in the precious metal sector in Istanbul. 228 employees have been participated in the study. Socio-demographic form, organizational commitment scale and organizational citizenship behavior were used in the research. It has been concluded that organizations need employees who have a high level of organizational commitment and have organizational citizenship behavior in order to achieve sustainable success. According to the results, there is a positive relationship between the organizational commitment of the employees and their organizational citizenship behaviors. It has seen that with the increase of organizational commitment level, the employees' organizational citizenship behaviors also increase. All of the hypotheses created within the scope of the research were accepted. The results of the study are limited with the answers given by 228 people who are the employees of three companies operating in the precious metal sector in Istanbul in 2020.
