Organizational agility: Nexus Maturity Model for project organizations

In globalized and rapidly changing sectoral markets, the organizations must be able to keep up with changing on time and respond to their customers' demands more quickly in order to survive. With this obligation, while the organizations take steps to become more agile in both their processes and in the structure; in the literature the studies are continued to work on presenting agile techniques and frameworks appropriate to the needs of the organizations. As the next step in the agile techniques produced on a team basis, organizational agile frameworks have been developed and ultimately Nexus framework has been put forward as a scaled agile framework. Nexus has a 3-year history yet and in the sector the number of experienced organizations in Nexus is low, the organizations that want to adopt the framework need a guiding tool to define their own maturity level and improve it. With this need, Nexus maturity model is designed and implemented in an international project organization within the scope of this thesis study. Firstly, the initial model is created after literature review in the process of model development, then Delphi technique is used to reach the final model. In the case study, the indicators were set up to measure each practice of the model. Structured interview technique was used in the scoring of the indicators and the data were collected from the participants via face-to-face meetings. The collected data are quantitative data, so the results were obtained and interpreted by calculating the arithmetic average of the indicators in the analysis work and calculating the success percentages of the teams. To test the hypothesis, the first measurement results were compared to the second measurement results and it is observed that Nexus maturity model increases the agility within the scope of Nexus framework. In this thesis, it is aimed to create a maturity model for the project organizations that decided to adopt the Nexus framework to measure their own maturity level and to determine their own improvement strategies for becoming more agile. As a result of the studies being done, the Nexus maturity model is presented as a gradual guiding model on the organizational agility journey to the users and the researchers by clarifying the goals, objectives and practices.
