The effect of organizational ethical climate on organizational identification and work alienation: A research on academicians

People have many values that will guide their behavior in their daily lives. Employees follow the values that guide their work-related behaviors in their working lives as well as in their daily lives. One of these values that guide the behavior of the employees in the organization is the ethical climate. Ethical climate affects the attitudes and behaviors of employees towards their organizations in business life. It is not possible to carry out activities far from ethical sensitivity, especially in some sectors and professions. At this point, ethical climate has a greater importance for academics with ethical sensitivity in the education sector. Organizational identification is expected to be positive in organizations with a positive ethical climate. It is expected that the positive ethical climate will play a negative role on work alienation. In this context, the main purpose of the study: is to reveal the effect of organizational ethical climate on organizational identification and work alienation. Within the framework of the purpose of the research, the universe of the study consists of academicians working in universities in Turkey. The sample of the research consists of 411 academicians from whom complete data can be obtained in this universe. The data of the research were obtained by the survey method. Obtained data were tested with regression analysis. As a result of the analyzes, it was determined that the ethical climate had a positive and significant effect on identification. It has been found that the effect of ethical climate, which positively affects identification, on alienation is negative and significant.
