The relationship between organizational silence and organizational alieanation: A research on the hotel enterprises

Today's harsh and intense competition conditions, shrinking world and conscious consumer expectations cause to understand and gain importance the value of human factor. Especially oualified employees has an undeniable a place and importance in the laborintensive tourism sector to achieve competitive advantage, improve service and product quality, carry out sustainable development. In this study it was aimed to determine the effects of organizational alienation on organizational silence with an application at three, four, five-stars hotel establishments and to review general literature on organizational alienation and organizational silence. Study questionnaires were distributed 974 participants working at three, four, five-stars hotel establishments in, İstanbul, Ankara, Alanya. Data obtained were analyzed through SPPS. As a result of research there were significant differences in employees' perceptions of organizational alienation by age and organizational silence by working time and hotel stars. There were also significant differences in employees' perceptions of organizational alienation and silence by gender, working city, educational level and departman. Study results showed that participants had moderate organizational alienation and organizational silence levels. Additionally, there was a moderate positive correlation between organizational alienation and silence. Keywords: Organizational Alienation, Organizational Silence, Alanya, Hotel, Gender.
