Determination of teachers' organizational stress sources and the solution suggestions made by teachers

This study aims to determine organizational stress sources of teachers, and reveal the solution suggestions made by teachers in order to get rid of the stress resources. This research is designed according to mixed-method study in which qualitative and quantitative research methods were used. Population of the study is consisted of 1450 teachers working in Yozgat province of Turkey in the 2020-2021. Research sample is consisted of 160 teachers who were reached by simple random sampling. Data is collected via "Survey of Teachers' Organizational Stress Sources" which was developed by Aslan (1995); "Survey of School Manager's Effect on Teacher Stress" which was developed by the researcher; and questions of focus group discussion prepared within the context of qualitative research. For the analysis of the data, descriptive statistics and context analysis were utilized. Results of the research showed that teachers perceived school manager's attitudes and behaviors, professional appearance, organizational opportunities, promotion and development opportunities, attitudes and behaviors of the parents, attitudes and behaviors of the students, role conflict and role ambiguity, contribution to the decision making process, professional insurance, control style, communication, working condition and human relations as organizational stress sources. School manager's attitudes and behaviors had the highest value among the organizational stress sources of teachers. The teachers' suggestions in order to deal with the school manager's attitudes and behaviors factor were changing certain behaviors of teachers and school principals, updating the school manager recruitment criteria of Ministry of National Education, regulation of school climate, preventing the recruitment of teachers and managers in their home town, education of union representatives, legislative arrangements by the Ministry of National Education, and running the control mechanism.
