The effects of organizational stress on employee performance: A research on private sector bank employees

Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of organizational stress on employee performance. It is seen that organizational stress factors cause negative effects on employees. It causes negative situations for organizations and employees such as job satisfaction and decreasing job satisfaction, decreasing efficiency, reluctance to go to work, making mistakes and decreasing the quality of work. The aim of this study is to examine the effects of organizational stress factors on employee performance and to contribute to the prevention of negative results. A total of 250 private sector bank employees participated in the study on organizational stress sources; stress factors arising from the structure of work, stress factors due to the structure of work, stress factors due to organizational structure and policies, stress factors due to physical conditions in the organization, stress factors arising from general environmental factors are examined in five dimensions. Employee performance perception is examined in two dimensions: business success and job satisfaction. It is seen that the stress factors experienced by the employees are significantly related to each other. When the relationship between stress factors and performance is examined, it is observed that the scale scores of the stress factors increase while the performance perception scale scores increase. The relationship between variables is significant. Stress factors arising from organizational structure and policies, stress factors arising from the structure of work, stress factors arising from the physical conditions of the organization affect the business success which is the performance sub-dimension of a unit change in stress factors. The stress factors arising from the organizational structure and policies of the participants are observed to affect the job satisfaction, which is the performance sub-dimension of a unit change in the stress factors arising from the physical conditions in the organization.
