Abstract (EN)

In this study, bioactive properties of Origanum micranthum Vogel and Thymbra spicata thyme species were investigated. Methanol, ethanol, hexane and water were used as solvent to obtain the plant extracts. Total phenolic concentrations of Origanum micranthum Vogel extracts ranged between 4,82 and 37,17 mg gallic acid equivalent (GAE)/g dry matter. Total phenolic substance amounts of Thymbra spicata extracts varied between 8,08 and 46,97 mg gallic acid equivalent (GAE)/g dry matter. The highest phenolic substance amounts are observed in water extracts. Antioxidant activity of the extracts was determined by free radical scavenging method (DPPH). Antioxidant activities of Origanum micranthum Vogel extracts ranged between 17,64 and 135,50 mmol trolox equivalent (TE)/L, whereas those of Thymbra spicata values varied between 17,24 and 146,19 mmol TE/L. None of the plant extracts showed antibacterial activity. The inhibition effect of plant extracts on α-amylase and α-glucosidase varied depending on the solvent and extract concentration used.
