Cultivating Origanum vulgare L. subsp. hirtum (Link) Ietswaart in Eskişehir Conditions and its pharmacognostic investigating

In the study carried out with Başer and Tınmaz varieties of Origanum vulgare L. subsp. hirtum (Link) Ietswaart planted in Eskişehir conditions, samples were taken from the plant for 3 consecutive years, and the flowers and leaves were taken separately and in total by dividing into three groups. The investigated characteristics, plant height, fresh plant yield, dry plant yield, leaf yield, flower yield, leaf+flower yield, essential oil, leaf essential oil, flower essential oil and harvest dates were recorded. In addition, the chemical composition of the essential oil was determined by analyzing the essential oil with GC-GC/MS, and the values of α-tuyen, myrcene, γ-terpinene, β-caryophyllene, α-terpinene, thymol, p-cymene from plant essential oil components to be used in the study were investigated. As with other thyme species, Origanum vulgare subsp. hirtum it is known that thymol and carvacrol, which are the main components of essential oils, are important. According to the results of the research carried out for 3 years, it was determined that Tınmaz variety was more efficient than Başer variety when evaluated in terms of yield per decare and essential oil and carvacrol yields. Başer variety is statistically superior in terms of carvacrol ratio of its essential oil and about 10 days earlier harvest date. In our study we determined the essential oil of leaf+flower essential oil contents 6,90% in Baser variety and 5,90% in Tınmaz variety and carvacrol contents are 82,90% and 79,70% respectively. It was determined that there was a genetic variation among the cultivars in terms of thymol and p-cymene content. It has been determined that O. vulgare subsp. hirtum is suitable for cultivation in terms of plant yields, essential oil content and essential oil components in Eskişehir conditions.
