Abstract (EN)
This study discusses the place of flute which is used in the orchestras and bands besides being a solo instrument in orchestration. History of the orchestra is examined and characteristics of the orchestras in the antique, renaissance, baroque, classical, romantic eras and in the 20th century is pointed out. Modifications made by Theobald Böhm are inspected in the context of technical development of the instrument and its use in orchestration. The output of this study lays out information about renaissance, baroque, Quantz, C-foot and Boehm flutes. The use of the E-flat soprano, bass and piccolo flutes in the orchestration is explained by examples. Keywords: Flute, Orchestra, Music
