Abstract (EN)

Researches on sustainability and sustainable energy resources gained momentum in the recent years, due to the significant increase of energy need in the world. Existence of an energy source is no longer adequate; parameters such as the capacity of the source, its harmony with the environment, economic factors and maintenance are taken into account. Sustainability and renewability concepts emerge when these parameters are considered. These concepts should be examined adequately, understood rightly and implemented correctly in practice by the establishments in Western Black Sea Region (inc. provinces of Düzce, Zonguldak, Bolu, Bartın, Karabük, Kastamonu) so that they can operate competitively, legally and produce sustainably. Main aim of the study is to identify the current situation of the establishments in forest products industry within Western Black Sea Region in terms of necessary capacity for sustainable production, supply of raw material, legal obligations, incentive opportunities and activities carried out by the establishments for sustainability. Demographic characteristics of the establishments were detected under this scope, and survey method was put to use to reach the objectives targeted within the study. Survey forms that were prepared by taking the studies in the literature will be distributed to the establishments of forest products industry within Western Black Sea Region (provinces of Düzce, Zonguldak, Bolu, Bartın, Karabük, Kastamonu) and face to face surveying method was implemented. Variables obtained from the survey forms were coded and a database was established for each stage. These databases were assessed and the calculations were carried out via SPSS package program. Information obtained from surveys were assessed statistically and results were turned into a report to enlighten the practices.
