The marketing problems of SBE's operating in forest product industry : The case of Kocaeli

Summary Small and Medium Size Enterprises (SMEs) are bedrock of economy in all countries since they have some advantages such as responding to changes in demand by creating variety products with low cost, creating new jobs, being a part of big size enterprises and also being effected by fluctuations in economy. Small and Medium Size Enterprises have a important impression in Turkey. Unfortunately, Small and Medium Size Enterprises at competitive market happening at the last years have a lot of problems. Particularly, Globalization gaining importance at the world, Important developments such as globalization gaining importance at the world, European Community and Customs Union are more and more increasing obligations causing increase of marketing activity importance. Because of the fact that, the investigation contains the problems about Small and Medium Size Enterprises that produce forestry products. In Section one, definition of Small and Medium Size Enterprises, general specialization, place and importance in Turkish economy of this businesses were investigated. In Section two, definition of marketing, the elements consist of marketing mix and the imports of marketing were investigated. In Section three, the problems about Small and Medium Size Enterprises were underlined. And In Section four, In Kocaeli, the result of survey that is about these businesses problems were interpreted. Finally, in general evaluation section, the solution proposals that were found out in the way of survey results were presented. VIII
