Abstract (EN)
Acoustic signals have been used extensively in submarine communications systems and in some biomedical applications for many years. As in radio-frequency (RF) based systems, positioning studies using acoustic signals have begun to gain importance over the years. However, acoustic locating studies have evolved over time to determine the location of acoustic signal sources and have become more important. At this point, the acoustic signals and their echoes allow creating 2D obstacle map of a the tactical scene. By the direction and depth of an acoustic source, we create the 2D dimensional obstacle map of a tactical area which has much importance for military conflict areas. Besides the military importance, the methods obtained have great value both in the architecture and music industry. In order to achieve the mentioned results, it is very important to examine the interaction of the acoustic signal sources with the environment. In this study, we investigate the interaction of a signal with trees and forest as well as the effect of this interaction to finding the direction. It consists of 2 dimensional 4 microphone arrays designed to collect the measurement data generated in this direction. To analyze the collected data, a C++ based software which calculates the difference of time of arrival and phase correlation was used. To ensure the accuracy of the system, test measurements were made at the EMUMAM laboratories of the University of Akdeniz using a full reflection-free room. Afterwards, the direction of the acoustic signals (including their echoes) were determined within ± 3 degree success in field tests made in forest area.
