An investigation example of ergonomic conditions for occupational health and safety in a travertine firm

Natural stone mining has an important place in the mining sector of our country. When the export figures of the foreign and domestic sectors in the mining sector are examined, it is observed that the natural stone mining is in the first place. Natural stones have wide construction and usage areas. This increases the importance of natural stone mining. The fact that the natural stone mining in our country has a wide range and its importance in the sector is great, it is necessary that the concept of occupational health and safety in natural stone mining should be a matter that can't be ignored. When ergonomic conditions are examined in terms of occupational health and safety in natural stone mining, work efficiency, speed of production and most importantly the health of the employees have an important role. In this study, the harmful effects of the operating environment on the employees were investigated as environmental factors in the travertine quarry, factory and office workers. As a result of the measurements made, it has been suggested that the environmental factors (dust, noise, lighting and thermal comfort) that occur in the environment exceed the stated limit values, so as not to harm the employees.
