Visual tracks of middle asian Turkish mythology motifs in the popular world

Mythology is a system of thought developed by societies to understand nature and the universe. With the intergenerational transfer of knowledge and data through mythological beliefs, mythology has become the memory and mirror of the societies. Although mythological thought was developed in order to find answers to the basic needs of life in primitive communities, mythology continued to change and develop depending on the needs of society with the change and development of civilizations. Over time, mythological motifs and beliefs were sometimes forgotten or changed, and sometimes they lost their belief feature and reached today as cultural values. The use of visuals is one of the methods applied among the transmission ways of mythology. As in the past, popular world works produced with visual language today contain mythological narratives. In the research, the concept of the popular world was used as a finding in order to cover different phenomena such as objects, ideas, thoughts, works, which sometimes reach large masses as a property of popular culture and sometimes gain popularity among the communities intended to reach. Based on Turkish mythology motifs, the game called Uruz Er Kişinin Dönüşü released by Berzah Games, the documentary Kökler published by TRT, works produced by artists such as Bartu Bölükbaşı and Can Evrenol, are among the popular world works with the interest they have seen and the successes they have achieved. In the fourth chapter, the illustrations of Ak Ana, Kayra Han, Ürüng Ayın Toyon and Kübey Hatun, which are illustrated in comics in the light of the information obtained within the scope of the research, "Both Earth and Sky" and "Water", "Fire", "Earth" series inspired by rock paintings are presented to the reader.
