Abstract (EN)

In this study, it is aimed to determine the biological features and reproductive characteristics of the bluefish (Pomatomus saltatrix Linnaeus, 1766) that fishing in the Middle Blacksea Region and to present of these determined features with histological and macroscopic findings. In this context, biometric measurement of 815 bluefish (Pomatomus saltatrix Linnaeus, 1766) fished during 2015-2016, 2016-2017, 2017-2018 fishing season were conducted. During the three fishing seasons, total length, fork length, standart length, gross weight, gonad weight and sexual maturity, oocyte diameter data for each individual in the samples of the bluefish caught by amateur fishermen and commercial fishing boat were calculated. And lenght-weight relation, length composition, length-weight relation, sex composition data were also calculated. All calculated parameters were tested statistically in terms of variations due to sex and time factors. The total length sampled individuals showed a change between 11,00±0,23 to 37,00±0,23 cm and body weight showed a change between 12,78±3,83 to 498,39±3,83 g. The rate of female and male were determined as 0.88:1 in 2015-2016 season, 1,96:1 in 2016-2017 season and 2,80:1 in 2017-2018 season. The obtained histological findings and macroscopic findings were compared. When the gonads of fish evaluated as macroscopically ovulated were examined by histological section, follicles were not found after ovulation. 46.87% of the individuals provided within the scope of the study are composed of individuals under the legal landing size. As a result of study, it is revealed that even individuals who are above legal landing size do not have a chance to reproduce when they the sexual maturity length.
