Özet (EN)

The purpose of this study is to examine the level of perfectionism in secondary school students in terms of different variables. In this scope, this study was performed with 408 parents, 439 female and 152 male, in total 591, students attending to secondary school in four schools in center of Ankara in 2007-2008 instruction year. In this study, Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale, adapted to Turkish by Özbay and Mısırlı Taşdemir, and Personal Information Form, prepared by the researcher, were used. In data analyzing, Pearson Moments Product Correlation, t-test and ANOVA test were utilized.According to the results of the study;?Doubts About Actions?, ?Parental Expectations?, ?Parental Criticism? and ?Concern Over Mistakes? sub-scales scores of parents and students were positively related; in ?Personal Standards? sub-scale scores of students were positively related with only mothers? scores. In ?Organization? sub-scales scores; there were no relations between the students and parents.In all sub-scales of perfectionism scale, scores of students differentiated according to the academic achievement level. Moreover, scores received in ?Organization? sub-scale differentiated according to whether or not psychological help was taken. Although Scores received in only ?Doubts About Actions? differentiated according to the gender, Scores received in ?Organization? and ?Personal Standards? differentiated according to the socio-economic level. Apart from ?Personal Standards?, Scores received in all sub-scales of perfectionism differentiated according to the educational level of parents and the types of schools. Scores received in only ?Parental Criticism? and ?Concern Over Mistakes? differentiated according to the continuing field. Furthermore, Scores received in only ?Organization? differentiated according to whether or not mother was working. However, any type of perfectionism sub-scale scores differentiated according to the class levels.Suggestions made by the researcher depending on the results of study were mentioned.Key Words: Perfectionism, FMPS (Frost Multidimentional Perfectionism Scale).
