The evaluation of the course materials recommended in 1998 curriculum of the history of The Turkish Republic and Kemalism for elementary classes ant the recommendations

iiiABSTRACTTraining materials are presently important elements for the trainingprogrammes as a necessity of contemporary education concept. The more we get thelearning atmosphere rich, the more effective learning is provided. The teachersshould determine the materials they are going to use according to the targets aimed tobe given to the content of the course.The great importance of the course materials in teaching the course of ?TheHistory of The Turkish Republic And Kemalism? is not a matter of discussion. Acourse without any materials makes learning difficult. This way of teachinginterrupts the student?s concern to the course. The materials of this course are variousmaps, drawings, slides, films, video cassettes, photos, tables, assistant course books,places on where the events were passed, museums, TV, computer, records, works oftheatre, stories, novels and similar resource works that tell Turkish War ofIndependence. Especially, the Great Oration is the most important resource book.These materials are course materials that the students want to follow every time. Theresearches show that unfortunately these materials are not used in our schoolsadequately.Well preparation of the training materials is possible by complying with thepresentation principles and sizes. For the pressed materials, compliance to the visualpresentation principles and using these materials in a way and time that arouses theconcern of the student in teaching and learning atmosphere is necessary.General objective of this study is to evaluate the materials recommended inthe course programme of ?The History of The Turkish Republic And Kemalism? forelementary grades accepted by Ministry of Education, Practice and TrainingCommittee Presidency and to recommend new ideas.In Revolution History teaching, research and improvement studies related tothe course materials should be implemented continually. Pressed and writtenivmaterials that provide effective learning for the education and training process shouldbe prepared by using developed technologies; visual and auditory course materialsshould also be used.
