Abstract (EN)

Ortabahçe Village is located in Erzurum-Kars part of the Eastern Anatolian Region. Ortabahçe, located in the south-east of Erzurum, is about 40 kms away from Erzurum City.Ortabahçe Village is located in the Cinis Plain which is at an average of 1750 meters in the south of the Karasu Valley in east-west direction.A harsh continental climate is predominant in Ortabahçe and surroundings. While the average annual temperature in Erzurum is 6.3 C°, the rainfal is 588.7 mm. It is composed of steppe species of natural vegetation in the research area and its surroundings. According to TUİK's 2015 datas the population of the town center is 980. According to population cencus in the year 2000 its population was 803, such a sharp decrease asserts the migration fact in the region.In the agriculture based economy, cattle dealing is the main source of income.Ortabahçe has farms established for livestock breeding. However, the majority of the farmers' population carry out agricultural activities in traditional ways.In Ortabahçe, constantly affected by the earthquakes, near the whole of the houses in Aşkale Earthquake in 2004 was demolished. After the construction of the earthquake dwellings Midwaji began to gain population again
