Abstract (EN)

Throughout the history, there have been gender differences between men and women in existing societies. Depending on the periods and societies, women had the value what they deserved, however, in some cases they were bought and sold like articles. The topic of this study is the place and importance of women in the Seljuk period and in the Middle Ages in Europe. This study constitutes an introduction and two chapters. İn the introduction, the status of women in pre- and post-Islamic periods and their political and social roles in the historical process were discussed. In the first part, the importance women in Seljuk period was examined and 10 most important women was mentioned. In the second part, the status of women in the Middle Age in Europe was discussed and 10 most important women in that period were introduced.
