A formal examination of different period structures on housing facades on ortahi̇sar Pertev Pasha and Şht. Refik Cesur Street

Within the scope of this study, it is aimed to examine the structures of different periods on the facades of the houses on Pertevpaşa and Şht. Refik Cesur streets in the Ortahisar neighborhood of Trabzon province. From this point of view, the formal and cultural change of the construction on the study area from the Ottoman to the Republican period, the formal differences of the buildings selected within the scope of the street silhouette on the facade, and the harmony or incompatibility of the facade form of these buildings on the street facade were evaluated in the light of the determined criteria. When the field findings are analyzed, it has been observed that the historical continuum, which consists of the fact that the other areas where the change is seen clearly in certain sections, cannot accept the change or that the clarity in the change cannot be provided, has collapsed a clear area texture on the environment with the structural blocks, with an easy approach in change. Although careful renovation has been created in the area with new applications, the traditional type of building block, which can be called old, offers a visual appeal that will attract the visual perception in this renewal. As a result, in order to prevent monotonous construction in the area and to increase the importance given to aesthetics, the interaction of street silhouette with culture should be considered and sustainability should be ensured.
