Abstract (EN)

Historical masonry structures that survived from the past to the present generation in Anatolian territories has been the most important parts of our culture. Preserving historical artifacts that have priceless structural values and safely hand down the next generations is one of the the most important task for us. Historical masonry structures are constantly losing power and may be faced with the danger of collapse by earthquake effects. Predetermining structural behavior of historical structures under existing loads and against damage caused by the earthquake that may occur in the future have a great importance. In this study, numerical model of Ortakoy Buyuk Mecidiye Mosque which is built by Sultan Abdulmecid in Besiktas,Istanbul in 1853 has been developed and static and dynamic analysis were performed with the aim of evaluation of the structural behavior. In the prepared three-dimensional finite element model of the structure, solid and shell elements used, as the earthquake-induced strong ground motion, seismic records convenient to the soil structure of the region was implemented. The general behavior of the structure obtained after the analysis phase, the most constraining sections and regions under existing loads and earthquake effect have been identified. At the end of the study, the behavior of the structure has interpreted generally and evaluations were made on constraining regions.
