Özet (EN)

In this study, the effects of limiting the topic selection in visual arts lesson on the grade 9 students were investigated. The attitudes of students were also inspected at the end of each art work.Single group of last test method was used in the study. The sample of the study was randomly selected forty-nine grade 9 students. The same task was assigned to the students by using two different methods. In the first task, students were free to select the topic and technique. They were limited in terms of topic selection in the second task. An attitude scale was carried out at the end of each task in order to understand the attitudes of the students. The aim of this scale was also to understand whether the attitudes of the students affected their work.T-test, Mann-Whitney test and Wilcoxon test were carried out for the analysis of the study. The statistical analysis was made by using SPSS 15.The universe of the study was grade 9 students studying visual arts lesson at secondary schools in Yenimahalle-Ankara. The sample of the study was forty-nine grade 9 students who study visual arts lesson at Ankara Anatolian High School.In the end, it was concluded that limiting topics in grade 9 visual arts lesson had positive impacts on students? success.Key words: Visual Arts Education, Secondary, Limitation, Success
