The evaluation of geography education at private courses: The example of central part of Çanakkale

This research aims to evaluate the education of Geography at secondary education private courses according to the students point of view. The research has been put forth by collecting and evaluating the data of the survey which was carried out among 311 students who attend private courses in the central district of Çanakkale. The main titles which were taken note while examining the Geography education at private courses are; the methods, techniques and principals of education, the materials used in the classroom, class management and evaluation.The data has been analysed by using arithmetic average, frequency, percentage, t 05 test and variance analysed statistic procedure. The analysing of the data has been done by using SPSS ( Statistical Package for Social Science) computer programme. In order to show that if there is a difference among the students? opinions, their sexes, school types, sections, success levels and the years of attending private courses have been examined and it has been tried to show if there is a change or not.According to the results, Geography education at private courses has been shaped for the purpose of its establishment. Education activities have been focused on a quick repetition of curriculum which is shaped by the questions of the exam and answering multiple choice test questions as much as possible.Because of the results and comments that have been reached, the structure of Geography education at private courses has been described, and in order to make the students? roles more effective and carry their hopes to more reliable places, some suggestions have been made in the process of education.
