Abstract (EN)

This study examined the relationship between the communication skills of school administrators working in secondary schools and the psychological well-being of teachers. Designed with a quantitative research approach and a relational screening model, the study was conducted in the 2023–2024 academic year using data obtained from teachers working in secondary schools in the Sorgun district of Yozgat province. The "Communication Skills Scale" was used to determine the communication competencies of administrators, and the "Psychological Well-Being Scale" was used to measure the psychological well-being of teachers. Data were analyzed based on teachers' perceptions. The study found a positive, significant, but low-level relationship between school administrators' communication skills and teachers' psychological well-being. Furthermore, the effects of variables such as gender, age, marital status, professional seniority, tenure at the current school, and the number of teachers at the current school on both their perceptions of communication skills and their psychological well-being were determined. Research findings indicate that teachers' general perceptions of school administrators' communication skills are strong but require improvement. A significant difference was found among teachers' opinions based on the marital status variable; married teachers evaluated administrators' communication skills more positively than single teachers. Perceptions of teachers' psychological well-being were found to be high. The research suggests that improving administrators' communication skills will improve teachers' psychological well-being and enhance the quality of education. In this context, in-service training programs should be organized to improve school administrators' communication skills, and in-school practices that support teachers' psychological well-being should be expanded.
