Özet (EN)
This study was conducted with the aim of "comparing social skill levels of secondary school students according to their doing sports variables". The population of the study consisted of 500 students studying in secondary education institutions. The scale used as data collection tool in the study consisted of 2 parts. In the first part, a personal information form was used to determine the personal information of the participants. In the second part of the data collection tool, the Matson Evaluation of Social Skills with Youngsters (MESSY) developed by Matson, Ratatory and Helsel (1983) and adapted to Turkish by Bacanlı and Erdoğan (2003) was used to measure the social skill level of the students. SPSS 21.0 program was used for data analysis. Coefficient of Skewness was used to test the normality of the scores. The fact that the scores obtained from a continuous variable remain within the limits of skewness +-1 used in the normal distribution characteristic can be interpreted as the scores do not show a significant deviation from the normality distribution. As Parametrical tests can be applied by transforming non-normally distributed scores into normally distributed scores by taking square root, logarithmic or inverse of the original scores of them, non-parametric tests also can be used (Büyüköztürk, 2011). Unpaired t test was used to compare scale and sub-scale scores according to gender and doing sports with license variables, one - way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to compare them according to age groups. Since there was a significant difference between the groups in the ANOVA test, LSD post hoc test was used for paired comparisons in order to determine the difference between the groups. The level of significance in the analyses was determined as 0.05 (p<0.05). 50% of the 500 students who participated in the study consisted of licensed students doing sports and 50% of them did not do sports. 48.2% of the students were male, 51.2% were female. 45.2% of the licensed students were male, 54.8% were female. 51.2% of the students who did not do sports were male, 48.2% of them were female. 14.8% of the students were 14 years old, 32.4% were 15 years old, 26.4% were 16 years old, 15.8% were 17 years old, 10.6% were 18 years old. 11.6% of licensed students doing sports were 14 years old, 52.8% were 15 years old, %15.2 were 16 years old, %11.2 were 17 years old, %9.2 were 18 years old. 18% of the students who did not do sports were 14 years old, 12% were 15 years old, %37.6 were 16 years old, %20.4 were 17 years old, %12 were 18 years old. %30 of the licensed students were playing basketball, %16.8 were playing football, %12.4 were swimming, %24 were playing volleyball, %16. 8 were playing the other sports.
