Abstract (EN)
There is a need to determine whether the relationship exists between learning styles and academic achievement at the end of secondary education for mentioning about awareness of invidual's learning journey. This research was conducted to reveal the relationship between students' learning styles and their academic achievement. The population of the research consists of the students who study in "Official Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School Health Service Area", in 2012-2013 and 2019-2020 academic years, in Anatolian side of the Istanbul. The sample of the study from the students studying at 6 schools selected among these schools; 1138 students in 2012-2013, 306 students in 2019-2020, 1444 students in total. "Marmara Learning Styles Scale" with 99 items developed by Ortar (2006) was used for aim of determine students' learning styles in the study. Year-end report card grades were used for determine the academic success of the students. Statistically significant relationship has been found between; learning styles scales; social, tactile, lighting and the time sub-dimensions. As a result of the research, in the 2012-2013 academic year academic success depending on the learning styles factor of students when the changes are examined, learning styles scale; social, tactile, lighting and between the time sub-dimensions a statistically significant relationship has been found. In the 2019-2020 academic year, when the relationship between learning styles scale and academic achievement average is examined; of learning styles sub-dimensions, tactile and time sub-dimensions, a statistically significant relationship was found between academic achievement averages. In both academic years from learning styles sub-dimensions, between tactility and time sub- dimensions with academic achievement average a meaningful relationship was been found.
