Abstract (EN)
This research has been done to investigate self-compassion and perceived social support levels of students at high schools according to different factors.In this research descriptive method was used, and the universe of the study consisted of the public high schools at the province of Edirne in the 2010-2011 educational year. 400 senior students at Edirne Girls Technical and Vocational High School formed the sample of the study.Within the scope of this study, the perceived Social Support Scale of which validity and reliability were tested and developed by Yıldırım (2004) ; and the Self compassion Scale which was developed by Neff (2003) and adapted into Turkish version by Akın and Abacı ( 2007) and the Personal Information Form were applied to the students.After the data obtained, they were analyzed. SPSS (Stastical Package For Social Sciences) was used to be able to do statistical analysis on the colleceted data. The techniques like one-way variance (ANOVA) analysis, , tukey and multiple test, were used in the analysis of the data.At the end of the statistical analysis, no significant difference is found at the self-compassion levels accoring to sex and togetherness status of parents; between social support and togetherness status of parents; and family support according to the order of birth. On the other hand, an important diffrence has been found between social support and self-compassion according to family support with sex variables; and between self compassion levels and academic success variables. At the end of the study, various suggestions are given.Keywords: Social Support, Perceived Social Support, Self-Compassion
