Secondary education students' attitude towards superstitious beliefs (Duzce sample)

Abstract (EN)

This research was conducted to determine the levels of superstitious beliefs of secondary education students. The research population consists of 19059 students who studies at secondary schools in the province of Düzce in 2021-2022 academic year. The sampling of the research consists of 1500 high school students who studies at these institues and were chosen randomly. 47 of the data taken from 1500 students reached was eliminated because of the questions left unanswered and 1453 scales were used. Therefore, in the group of sampling, attaining the objective was realized in the rate of %96,8. In the research, the level of students'current superstitious beliefs and the effect of the variables such as gender, family's financial situation, the place mainly lived, parents' educational status, the frequency of meeting grandparents and fulfilling religion's requirements were tried to be examined. In the research, "Personal Information Form" and "Superstitious Belief Scale" developed by İshak Aşar were used with the aim of obtaining data. Analyzing of the data obtained was done with the SSPS software statistically. The kolmogorov smirnow normality test was applied to determine which analyses are to be used and it was found out that the data weren't distributed normally. In the consequence of the research, while the levels of students' superstitious beliefs were found out low, the level of female students' superstitious belief were found out high as to gender varibles. Out of the sources from which beliefs are learnt, it was found out that family is the most influential variable.
