Abstract (EN)

This study investigates the 11th grade high school students' transferrig Modern physics unit topics in Physicsintotheirdailylives. The participants of the study desingned as descriptive survey research. In this researh, 314 11th high school students choosen using cluster sampling method. The data were collected through the " Achievement Test on Modern Physics (MFTT) and Modern Physics Transfer Test (MFTT). The data were evaulated in two phases (quantitative and qualitative).First of all, relationship between the achivement test and the transfer test scores were evaluated in the quantitative section. The second phase aimed at identifying the level of transferrig modern physics topics intoeverday life. Analysis results indicate that there is a positive, significant and weak–level reletionshipbetween achiviment and transfer test scores. Transfer levels consist of three categories. This categoriesar zero transfer, deficient transfer and complete transfer. The complete transfer levels of modern physics topicsintoeveryday life were fonud to be guite low in 11th grade students. Besides, The complete transfer level of "Photoelectriceffect" and "blackbodyradiation" topicsarebetterthan "Item Waves and "Pauliprinciple" topics. In this study the participants were found to perform both zero transfer and deficient transfer to a great extent. Keywords: Modern physics, physicseducation, knowledge transfer, high school
