Özet (EN)

This study was conducted to investigate the knowledge levels of secondary school students about heat and temperature and the perceptions of them about heat and temperature, and finally its relation with their theoritical knowledge within this purpose, ?Heat and Temperature in Daily Life Test? (HTDL) which the students respond to by relating the results with the events they encounter during their daily lives and ?Heat and Temperature Conceptual Test? (HTCT) to which the relevant students respond by utilising from their conceptual knowledge they gain during their education that applied on purpose and with specific objectives have been developed. HTDL test consists of 18 questions, while HTCT test has 21 questions. These tests were applied to those who have studied about heat and temperature at high schools simultaneously. The application was participated by 87 students who were chosen by means of brief and fair samplings. In the study, correlational patterns have been used. The relation with the true answers of students in HTDL test and those in the HTCT test has been achieved by calculating Pearson Multiple Moment Correlation Coefficient. When the outputs have been evaluated, it has been noted that the success level in HTCT test is in conformity with the success level in HTCT test. Based on this data, it is thought that the teaching conducted in relation with the events that the students may encounter in their daily lives will contribute much to the teaching-learning objectives of them in terms of stability and meaningness. With this respect, we have made some suggestions in order to implement on effective science teaching.Key Words: Heat, Temperature, Internal Energy, Physics Teaching, Concept Learning
