Abstract (EN)

This research was prepared with the aim of examining the awareness levels of students studying at secondary school level towards tennis. The research was prepared by adopting the general screening model, which is among the quantitative research methods. In addition to the demographic information form prepared by the researcher within the scope of the research, the tennis sports awareness scale consisting of three sub-dimensions was used as a data collection tool. The research group consisted of 400 secondary school students, 41% of whom were boys and 59% were girls. In order to determine the statistical processes of the data obtained within the scope of the research, the normality distribution of the data was first examined. After it was determined that the data came from a normal distribution, T-test and ANOVA test were preferred for statistical operations. Considering the findings, there was a significant difference according to gender in the cognitive and affective sub-dimensions, while no significant difference was found in the psychomotor sub-dimension according to gender. In the results of the analysis made according to the weekly sports status of the students, a significant difference was found in the affective sub-dimension, while no significant difference was found in the cognitive and psychomotor sub-dimensions. In the results of the analysis made according to the school type variables of the students, a significant difference was found in the affective sub-dimension, while no significant difference was found in the cognitive and psychomotor sub-dimensions. No significant difference was found between the class status of the students and their cognitive, affective and psychomotor sub-dimensions. In this direction, when the results of the research are examined, it has been determined that the cognitive, affective and psychomotor awareness of female students is higher than that of male students, and the cognitive, affective and psychomotor awareness of 9th grade students is higher than that of other class groups. On the other hand, it has been determined that the cognitive, affective and psychomotor awareness of students who have someone who does sports in their family or environment is higher than those who do not. As a result of the answers given to the questions in the scale, one of the important results of the research is that secondary school students should be aware of low cognitive and psychomotor awareness at a moderate level emotionally.
