In this study it was aimed to determine the usage conditions of education methods and the encountered problems of physical education teachers who works at secondary education schools

Ill ABSRACT In this study it was aimed to determing which methods the teachers at high school at Ankara province use in physical education lesson and which reasons they have to choose them. This study was applied randomly on 88 teachers employed at high schools. The data were obtained from teachers trough a questionnaire consulting of 29 questions; statistically, frequencies and percentages are obtained and x was used to find out the meaningfulness validities for same questions. As a result of this research; it was found that the majorits of the teachers are males, when their ages are taken into account, mostly they are at 42 and above, in their job experiences they are at the ranks of 21 and above, more than a half of them participated to in-service education courses. Physical education teachers suggest that physical education lesson hours should be increased, most of them stated that lesson hours should be 4 hours for an effective education. Mostly physical education lessons include between 21-30, 31-40 students. Theachers stated their point of views that the lessons should include 20 students or below for the lesson to be in line with the aim of physical education programme. It was found out that physical capacities of the school are not sufficient and in general they don't have sport saloons, and football areas but in most of them there are volleyball and basketball fields. There are some problems arising from the yearly physical education plans; primarily there aren't sufficcent materials for the subjects, education programmes are not prepared by paing attention to the practice conditions at schools. There are someIV problems arising from the lessons comprising both boys and girls altogether because there are some differences in practicing the subjects. The majority of the physical education teachers, while dealing with their lessons, mostly use repenting and telling methods, they made use of emplaying method in a limited way. In the physical education lessons students are mostly interested in showing method. Among the most important reasons why the physical education teachers prefer some methods; they want that they should be suitable for the possibilities of the school, be suitable for the duration of the lesson, be suitable for the specialities of the physical education lesson. When looked at the in-service courses of the physical education teachers makes are more in numbers and statistically there is a meaningful relation. There isn't statistically a meaningful relation among the variables of using teaching methods, age, sex and rank conditions.
