The analysis of drama texts in the secondary school books of Turkish language and literature in terms of values education

In this study; drama texts, in the 9th,10th, 11th and 12th class Turkish Language and Literature books, are examined in terms of values education. This is done on the basis of "The List of Values" which was formed by the directives of "The General Purposes of Turkish National Education, The Final Statement of Eighteenth National Education Council and 2018-Secondary Education Turkish Language and Literature". The purpose of to this work is to lay out whether or not the values that listed in "The List of Values" are mentioned, if so how and to what extend they exist, in these examined texts. In this study, general survey model is used as descriptive research method. 396 value-definitions were enumerated in the studied texts of 15 drama; "Ocak (9), Buzlar Çözülmeden, Fatih, Hastalık Hastası, Karagöz Çevre Canavarı, Ocak (10), Orta Oyunu-Çeşme, Kibarlık Budalası, IV. Murat, Münevver'in Hasbıhali, Bir Adam Yaratmak, Jan Dark, Fehim Paşa Konağı, Hürrem Sultan, Keşanlı Ali Destanı". Respect and tolerance are the values referred most as. 27 times. Asking for excuse and hospitality hava equal Number of referrences as 2, including patience as the least mentioned values. The outcome of this study shows that each drama text states the values, specified by "The List of Values", with small number of examples and is considered sufficient for the Turkish Language and Literature Class.
