Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between task and ego orientations on sport of licensed athlete high school students and strategies to coping with stress. For this purpose, research 175 female, 125 male total of 300 athletes participated. Coping With Stress Strategies in Sport Inventory, which was developed in Canada by Gaudreau and Blondin (2002) and adapted to Turkish by Arsan (2007), was used to determine the strategies for coping with stress. The athletes' mean scores of "imagination" were found to be significantly higher than those of the sub-dimension of coping with stress according to their gender [T=2,05; p=0,041<0,05]. Female athletes' imagination scores are higher than male athletes. The score of "effort" from the coping with stress sub-dimensions of the athletes was found to be significant according to the age of the averages [F=4,489; p=0,012<0.05]. The athletes; The mean scores of "social withdrawal" gave meaningful results compared to the variables of sport [F=2,503; p=0,031<0,05], while the results of age, imagination, thought control, support search, relaxation, logical analysis, withdrawal, mental confusion and mean scores of unpleasant emotions were not significant (p>0.05). Sports athletes with basketball are less scores social withdrawal than those with athletics. Significant results were found between sports age and "effort" and "social withdrawal" scores in coping with stress [F=2,696; p=0,031<0,05]. KeyWords: Sportsman , Stress, Coping
